This is kind of similar to ICE having no authority to deport people to other countries without due process. Yet they keep doing it. Nobody has been able to do anything to stop it. Trump can do the same thing. He can order ICE to stop elections or the National Guard to stop elections, and they will do it. Nobody will stop them. There will be court orders against it that won't matter. Trump routinely violates federal court orders.

A law that cannot be enforced is not really a law, and it has no real value. More like a weak suggestion.

I think the lesson for all of us is the importance of the law and law enforcement. This whole situation, to a large extent, has changed my opinion about the police, who risk their lives to enforce our laws, keep order, and protect us. I may not always like what they do, and they may not always be right, but at least I think we can be respectful of them.

Well, as you said, they don't have enough spine to stand up to him, and that is true. When you think that that's going to get them voted out, I'm not sure those two things follow each other. In any event, it doesn't make any difference because even if the entire Congress were comprised of Democrats, it wouldn't matter. Trump is going to keep doing what he's doing until somebody stops him. So far, nobody has had the spine to stop him, and voting against him in Congress won't matter. The way you can tell is that he didn't even bother to obtain congressional approval for his war. The way you can tell is he didn't even bother to obtain congressional approval for his warrant, and he's constitutionally required to do this.

Yes, they can impeach him, but impeaching him is not the same thing as convicting him. I don't think any Republican senators will vote for impeachment, but even if some do, there won't be enough of them to wind up convicting him. Even if they can convict him, who exactly is going to physically remove him from the office of the President? I think the short answer is there won't be anybody to do it because people are too devoted to him, or in many cases too afraid of him.
