Adult dreamers - should they be given a chance?

so I discovered there is no program for kids of illegal immigrants once they grow up. i feel like its little bit unfair because they didn't have any say coming into the country, they should at least be given a chance to integrate especially if they went to school here

The young kids didn't have any choice. They might have entered illegally, but they have spent most of their life in the US. It's the only thing they know.

I think it all depends on their age when they entered the US, and somewhat on how they were raised, what school they went to, and what neighborhood they lived in. Many (most?) are far more American than whatever country their parent came from.

At the same time, I don't think it justifies allowing illegal parents to stay (anchor babies).

I think it needs to be done on a case by case basis. And judges should be given the freedom to judge, rather than being micro-managed from afar for political reasons.

There is no easy answer to this question. Immigration in this country has been a failed policy for decades. We've turned a blind eye to it for decades for the cheap labor and now the chickens are coming home to roost. Now it's a problem to the United States that's the disgusting part.

I have a family friend who is LEGAL because he was born in this country. But his family was not. And they have since returned to Mexico. He's a hard working, caring, friendly guy. But at times I feel bad for him because I have a full family and it feels like he's been orphaned by his family. He comes to all our family functions during holidays and whatnot. So I guess you could say we've adopted him as part of our family.😂 I can't even imagine what it's like to have your entire biological family so far away like that.

They should be able to go back to their home country and start the paper work to come legally. Since they know English, have qualifications, have contacts, I suspect getting a green card shouldn't be hard. And since it was there parents who came legally that shouldn't cause any problems for them.

Granted, all this paperwork is stupid and I don't support this system, but they do have options

Just what programs would these be. They use our schools, if they are sports savvy they play with the rest of us so actually I don't see them not given a chance.

there is such programs... as far as I know, they have to renew their legal status every two years or so

and they would lose it if their parents or themselves are careless about it and take this for granted

And yet the law is pretty black and white. What if everyone ignored a law that was inconvenient. If these people have any beef it is with their parents.
