Why are protesters supporting Iran, when Iran has in the last few weeks killed 7000 protesters, and would happily kill Christians and the LGBT?

In my home town there are hundreds of protesters protesting us attacking Iran.. I am as anti war as the next person, but when i confronted them with the fact that Iran would kill every last one of my LGBT friends, and every last one of my christian friends, they stated that its impossible that it never happens, that the Iranian regime loves Christians and the LGBT, and the killed protesters are lies spread by politicians.

How stupid can people be.

Likely has to do with the fact that there was a bomb that killed 150+ people at an elementary school. Israel has a tendency to fight wars in this way. They killed around 20k children in the span of 20 years. It’s easy to dehumanize these people and label them as terrorist, but if my kids were killed in a reckless bombing, I’d like pick up a rifle and fight who ever did it as well.

Yeah and the other sides way of fighting and creating outrage, because the bombs were dropped in the middle of the night, I'd to place children in places where the bombs are likely to fall. There was no reason for kids to be where they were in the middle of the night..

I understand there’s nuance to every situation but a lot of these numbers are entirely inexcusable and inhumane. The other side fights dirty as well, they just lack sophistication. The US and Israel having the technological and military advantages we do should not have these numbers. What happened in Gaza is inexcusable. They had a 8:1 civilian to fighter ratio death toll. 20k children dead. It looked more like a genocide to me. Having been in the military myself I don’t agree with this cowardice style of warfare of rogue bombs despite data showing it’s “safer” I don’t buy it. It’s reckless, inhumane, and cowardly. As an American I don’t like the idea of siding with Israeli. As far as I’m concerned, Netanyahu is a genocidal maniac. I don’t know if you’ve ever witnessed real violence buts it not pleasant dude. It’s tragic and will leave you jaded for the rest of your life. There should just be a base line of ethics no matter the nuance. Killing that many children in a school is a failure of military force. Or perhaps it’s something even more sinister.

I’m not going to act as if I’m hyper aware on geopolitics but I again just as a human know my ethics. I don’t think it’s just a bunch of unemployed progressive lefties opposing this. I think so many Americans are disgusted with how Gaza was handled and how they’re gaslighting us about it till this day. It’s just normal people who don’t want the US to get entangled in that kind of warfare. Or it’s people who have served in Afghanistan and Iraq who have seen this song and dance before.
