China is advancing so fast right now but not to show off. They're doing it to improve their living. Of course with a little motivation to surpass the west and of course to attract traders around the world like what they use to do. Communism may come to mind but that's not really the case for Japan, S Korea and Taiwan, fairly westernized, yet they still have practical use for their technologies.
It's clear it's rooted in ancient wisdom, philosophies, Confucianism and pragmatism which have ancient/animistic roots, that's still applied today with modern technologies. Tech being practical used in railways, side walks, environment, healthcare, infrastructures, manufacturing and farms that makes people's lives more convenient. They're stuck in ancient times with modern tech.
The west is stuck in the industrial age with territories around the world, with systems like capital accumulation, competition, and market-driven growth which can lead to inequality, monopolies, consumerism and environmental damage. Corporates focus on tech slops, at a cost of RAM, water and electric shortage, selling tech like gadgets and smart devices for individuals to solve minor problems. Current western powers, continue to face internal pressure, tech giants exploiting people, to compete with the world indicating their empire is not over, only not on paper.
How the west keeps policing the world, it's they're still trying to dominate, demonize cultures that doesn't fit their norms. This is why I think animism should return. It existed around the world and every civilizations was once animistic. Rules was simple. People hunt, connect, sing, make art and survive. That makes us humans. People do crazy things in crisis but AI and tech can exist to make life easier so people do arts, music, games and sports like what they use to do and old jobs becomes simulators. AI slops just take those away from humans. Animism shouldn't even just return but be the dominant culture around the futuristic world.
