Given recent intel leaks, how long can the US‑Iran war realistically last?

Yep, Intel has leaked and pretty much proved what I have been saying. That Trump is lying about US success in Iran war.

That Iran is 90% contained and can't launch major attacks with missiles. They hit Iran for 3 hours straight 2 days ago.

Iran destroyed 5 more US Fueling planes today.

We know many more US soldiers were killed than we have been told. Rumors that 170 US forces were captured.

We were told Iran's new leader was killed , but he made a speech yesterday.

Lets face it , the US failed at its goals. This was supposed to end in 3 days , we are heading towards 3 weeks now.

So has the US already really lost? Can US and world afford a long war with Iran?

The only way to take Iranian missiles out is to use Nukes. Their Missiles are underground , deep in mountains.

Remember the US failed to destroy Iran's Nuke facilities with the Biggest bombs US had.

Iran has also said they are going to allow China and Russia to set up Military bases inside Iran. If that happens the US will lose all influence in Middle East. Trump will be the biggest loser in American politics ever.

So how long will Iran war go on?

Not long. If Trump doesn't stop this nonsense soon the GOP will get slaughtered in the midterms. Gas goes up like a rocket and drops like a feather and if this goes up much longer gas will still be expensive in November. Iran said they will allow their allies to transport oil through the Strait but not US allies. The US alienated so many former allies that they will have to fight this war alone with Israel and the only logical move is to bail on this poorly thought-out war before it becomes a quagmire. If gas in swing states is over $4 a gallon in November, Trump becomes a lame duck and is impeached again.

Military is a dangerous environment, complex equipment. I have to wonder how two tankers would collide like that and what it's really like on a daily basis.

It is very hard to contain Iran, it's a huge country with a lot of embedded missile systems. That is the problem and they are filtering the news same way happens for other wars. They tell the story they want us to hear.

I think it cannot last much into next year or when the mid terms end as I suspect Trump loses control of govt, and gets freshly impeached.

He could pull the plug at any time though and say "success" and walk away.

I treat veterans for a living. I get veterans of all sorts of intelligence levels and backgrounds and ranks ranging from privates all the way up to generals. I've spoken to all of them extensively because it's what I do.

The vast majority of them are afraid to even defy illegal orders for fear of being court-martialed and imprisoned. It is not really practical to defy an order in the military no matter how illegal it might be, no matter what the UCMJ says.
