If a murderer dies or only confesses on their deathbed, is that real justice?

If a loved one was murdered and after so many years, investigators finally discovered who was the killer but he's already dead, is that justice to you?

Or the case gets solved and after all these years, the killer confesses on his deathbed and then dies.

I've heard of cases that got solved several decades later but either the killer has been long dead or admits it when he's close to dying. Would you feel that's justice? Or not.

• You could argue that Jeffrey Epstein got away with his crime for decades. He was only murdered in prison at age 66.
• Harvey Weinstein got away with sexual assault for decades. He was only disgraced and imprisoned at age 67.
• Bernie Madoff was sentenced to 150 years in prison at age 71, after he lived like a king for decades off the money he stole from investors.
• Donald Trump has been a criminal his entire life and spent his entire adult life involved in criminal and civil lawsuits. He has yet to see the inside of a prison at age 79.

White collar criminals in the Capitalist Utopia of the USA routinely "get away with it" for decades and only get punished when it essentially no longer matters. It's always sex and money... power. Mostly these people settle civil lawsuits with a check and dodge criminal prosecution for decades with teams of attorneys who throw wrenches into the wheels of justice in return for hefty fees. Yeah, if you're rich you can get away with robbery, sexual assault, drugs, even murder in the Valhalla Of Capitalism. Not bad if you're only punished at the end of your life when you're on death's doorstep. You won the game!

The trial and process could be resolved and concluded but justice is not apart of the equation at this point.

Season 3 of true detective had native American wrongfully excused of a muder and kidnapping. From there exonerated posthumously would be a form of justice.

As a say this i feel like I'm contradicting myself. One should face a jury of peers and being dead and your peers are now dead. It's tough to say. Not a call I want to make on such key stone moments of history but need to be made one way or another.

Justice can be many things for different people, I guess stewing on it.

As much as the government has a duty to uphold Justice and equally restrain itself from the ultimate powers of the government to do whatever it can in the name Justice. Basically why jury of peers is the only true form of Judgment.

If hell is real and they go to hell then yes that is justice.
Right now though scientists haven’t found evidence to prove or disprove the existence of heaven and hell. That is why religion is based on faith.

Justice is an inherently-subjective arbitrary human construct. There is no such actual, useful "thing." Answering questions like this would first require deconstructing the 4000-year-old layer cake of dysfunctional behavioral, religious and legislative conditions that cumulatively arrived at the current definition of justice in your locality. Now, I'd personally love to do that - but there are only a few dozen other people on the planet who could meaningfully participate without first investing a decade or so of study and synthesis.

Thinking in such general terms is, generally, counterproductive.

Instead of thinking about justice itself, ask yourself why you are thinking about justice in the first place - and don't stop 'til you get to the bottom of that train of thought.

Sometimes criminals are brought to justice, but not always. It's not possible to bring justice to everyone who wrongs others. Attempting to do that would result in the arrest and conviction of many innocent people. We have decided that it is more important to protect the innocent than to ensure that every criminal is brought to justice.

millions of women get away with killing their unborn babies every year and there's no justice there so I don't see how it's justice a murderer can just confess his sin before their judgement
