Which English accent sounds more beautiful to you, American or British?

OK, this one is nuanced. There isn't one British or American accent. Each country has several distinct regional dialects.

London alone has the working class cockney accent and the snobbish aristocratic Received Pronunciation (RP) or the Queen's English. But Birmingham, Liverpool, Plymouth, Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Aberdeen all have their own unique style.

In the US Maine, Boston, New York, and Philly all have different accents. The same goes for the Southeast, Texas, Arkansas, and the upper Midwest like Wisconsin and Minnesota. And then there's Portland and Seattle. Louisiana has the French inspired Cajun language. The Appalachian mountains of Tennessee, Kentucky, and West Virginia are like another country to themselves. The plains states tend to have a very neutral accent.

But I think most Americans are suckers for the British RP English accent. We immediately uncouth and inferior when those English snobs unleash their uppity accent on we colonial trash.

I must admit I do have a soft spot for an American accent. But that's only because I'm around English people, so that's normal for me of course.

But it depends on the person. If you like them, the accent is a nice cherry. If not, they can become annoying rather quickly. So it's person and region dependent!

I do also think in the English accent's favour is that it's rarer. Often you'll hear a foreign person, say a Swedebag, and they basically speak in an American accent with all the drawls etc.

I don't have any preferences but I dislike Scottish accent used in some games.
For people who start learning English is British TV accent more understandable, because it's more phonetic than American accents. However in real world most Brits don't speak like in TV Shows.
There is difficult to find beauty in English language, it's a Germanic one and all Germanic languages sound like dog barking.

I might be biased on this because British English is my first language but for me British accents sounds much more attractive or beautiful as you put it. And of course for anyone on here I mean no disrespect or offence because it's just my personal opinion nothing more.

There's a different "British" accent every hundred miles or less. Scottish (lowland, highland, east, or west?), Welsh (north or south?), Westcountry, Midlands (Brummie), Yorkshire, Geordie, Borders, Scouse, Cockney...

There are many different dialects of each, some which I like and others which I don't. So its almost impossible for me to answer this. While British dialects also vary from place to place and I am familiar with some of the variations, I am more familiar with American dialects. And they differ somewhat dramatically from region to region. I despise some of them but I am fond of others.

I understand American English more and I think I speak with American Accent because of the unhealthy amount of American Sitcoms I've watched. But British English is surely beautiful, takes a moment to actually understand though lol.

Well a gorgeous woman with an American accent is great, but a gorgeous woman with a British accent is.. wow😍.

But then again, I'm American so American accents are regular to me whereas British is a rarity

I'd make a plug for Australian. But to be honest I have more of a British accent... to the point I was mistaken for a Brit by staff in His Majesties Windsor Castle residence...

Both countries have so many different accents, without specific which ones it's impossible to choose. If we just stick with the most basic ones... British.

English is English. Otherwise their language would be American. They have Coffee americano but no language, like australians, and other a few countries

I find the most "pleasing" accent to be English without any accent. So, that would be American English, without a southern or new England accent. Basically the way someone in the Pacific Northwest would speak.
