Life takes some hard swings

We’re all expected to hit it big in our 20’s but as I’m reaching the end of mine I’m realizing a hard truth

20’s are all about trial and error. We are unseasoned. Unproven. And not worth our weight in gold.

The best we can do is cultivate credentials and seniority in our chosen field or profession.

30’s is when we get to ramp up the income.
Because by then we can talk about “10 years of experience” and such.

So I don’t think 5k by 30 is pathetic.
It’s not a fortune
But it’s a step.

It’s what happens next that decides if the person is a success or a failure.

My father once told me he married my mom at 34 with 25$ in his pocket. And still managed to maintain a home and raise 2 kids.
I resented him for not being more of a success.
I broke his heart when I said “look how well that worked, we are still barely over the poverty line”
But now at 28 I’m realizing just how hard it is do what he made look so effortless.

Well if I already have 10k in investments then I would say so.
I live on benefits yet have achieved so. Of course this applies to my country, and don't apply to every living issues there is but if your life is stable, you should've been investing from get go and no way would you have so little.
And important part is plenty of people are just bad at investing or don't bother. Spending money frivolously like on Easter eggs costing them £10 a pop for less chocolate than a chocolate bar.

A lot of people have families to feed, and they live from paycheck to paycheck. Some may even own a business and be in debt. There's many different circumstances. I guess different people might have different ideas of what's pathetic, and what isn't. I bet there's even some rich people that would trade their money to be more physically attractive etc.

At this point, I'd think that having $5,000 is world class. Seriously though, they're probably in better financial shape than most other people right now.
