Trending & News AI says: Yes!
AI is bad for humanity, democracy, workers, consumers, industries, business, and society.
I’ve seen claims of it going to cure cancer, solve problems, and expand employment when in reality I’ve only seen slop content, AI mass surveillance that puts innocent people at harms way, AI Identification, AI Deep Fake revenge p0rn, and horror movies where AI is the downfall of humanity when you give it access to the military and nukes which we are currently plotting as we speak.
It would be best to ban the whole thing than it would be to keep it around.
However I am a reasonable man, I would love regulations and restrictions since it has shown time and time before that bans don’t work except well regulated, well restricted business guidelines help. That isn’t enough either, we need real persecution and enforcement even to the higher ups to save us because a law is only as good as the people working to take it into action.
I personally don’t like AI interviews where it is a 3-Dimensional corporate lie detector test to check for certain aspects of employment to see if you are the candidate the conglomerate wants or AI scanning your resume rather than a human being going through it, or AI bots that listen in on your co workers’ conversations and tell you tasks to perform the whole work period to make you as efficient as possible… That is dystopian and it is currently being in place and being implemented everyday.
It is scary, invasive, and disturbing this is allowed to go on.
The majority of Americans don’t even want AI, but corporations pushing the “future” don’t care. “You’ll get used to it” and push our politicians with money to achieve their future whether we like it or not.
AI can absolutely become dangerous if we rely on it the wrong way. It’s a double‑edged sword. If society keeps moving toward total dependence on AI, we could end up in a world where power is concentrated in the hands of a few, and everyone else becomes controlled without even realizing it. Imagine a system where you don’t own anything, your choices are limited, and your life is quietly managed by algorithms. People could become modern-day cattle while the wealthy elite run everything from above. It sounds like something out of a dystopian movie, but the direction we’re heading makes it worth paying attention to.
AI much like a gun isn't a bad thing, the bad happens when a human uses that tool in a destructive way.
Would agree with that part! It is a shame that about everything we have that is good can also be used badly by those who choose to go that route.

It is a double edged sword, there are some things AI can help with but from my experience, it is very bias to a conventional narrative that KNOWS there is more to the narrative but needs to be poked to get it out.
Something I read online:
"I hang out with three guys who use AI.
Guy 1 works at a rocket company and says he'd never use AI to design the part he works on, but uses it for little bits of code. Guy 2 works for a social media company and won't use AI for code, but uses it to write email reports to VPs. Guy 3 works at Microsoft and says AI is great as long as you don't use copilot.
They all think AI is good at stuff they don't understand and sucks at things they do."

Saying that ai is bad for democracy is not that much different than saying that the internet itself is bad for democracy.
It's nothing but a tool. So long as it is properly handled, democracy shouldn't change too much, but there will be many challenges along the way to get it there.
I am however opposed to hate speech laws. We have a first amendment for a reason and with a vague term like "hate speech," it could just very well mean "thought crime" and places like the UK is already fucking itself over because they arrest people for using the word f***** in a text message. This is why I am 100% for end-to-end encryption.
Absolutely. A few smart people will use it to do smart things, potentially strengthen society; the rubes will largely abuse it and become dumber in the process.
Only if people are stupid and lazy enough to depend on it.. So yes, we're fucked.
yes, letting machines shape out destiny is folly.
I'm not sure it's bad for democracy at all. Can you explain more about how that could be?
Did you watch the video? Every movement of your mouse is monitored, every site you visit, how long you look at it, that's combined with all your heath care data, social media posts, etc. All so they can feed you something likely to convince you to help them and not you.
Fear and despise the immigrant in the corner shop, they're in control of the world! Our political opponents abuse children! (It's slightly different if there's actual evidence of that, of course.) Climate change isn't real, and gas prices will fall again, no need to change your pick-up for a sensible car, let alone an EV that you can charge with your own solar panels for a couple thousand bucks!
The fact that you can train it to do this type of surveillance also means you can train it to detect and defeat this type of surveillance. It cuts both ways. I don't see that the technology is the problem. The problem is the way the technology is being used; in fact, if it is even being used that way. I'm not aware of any documentation that says it is.
Ai is bad for both sides
Huh? AI is bad for AI and bad for democracy?
@MrChinaski its like this site and everywhere. Doesn't matter what side your on. We should turn off ai
