Did Trump try to get control of nuclear weapons and use one against Iran?

Former CIA analyst Larry Johnson has made an explosive claim. Johnson, who blogs and commentates on national security matters, claimed that Donald Trump wanted to use the nuclear codes against Iran but was stopped by General Dan Caine, the Chairman of the Army's Joint Chiefs of Staff. The incident happened at Saturday's emergency meeting of the Pentagon, Johnson claimed.

If it's true, it's not a shock. The way to shut down the drones and such is to toast the whole country.

my impression is he's in a tough spot and trying to avoid the reality that a lot of americans get killed if sends them in. looking for "easy" answers. Easiest answer is likely, leave and declare victory and let others deal with it.
That means some major pain, starvation in areas in next few years, supply disruptions... all baked into the cake.
Another president justified using a-bomb... I doubt he does, but never say never.

He's trying to avoid being embarrassed, and he's trying to avoid the discomfort of his own panic. That's not my problem or your problem; that's his problem, and he doesn't have any right to be using nuclear weapons to solve his problems.

This is a mentally ill man who is extremely ill. We have absolutely no idea what's going on in his head, other than it doesn't seem to correspond to anything occurring in the real world to any substantial extent. Given that, I would say he's about as dangerous as an unstable bomb could possibly be.

It's not a question of wanting to do it. The issue is doing it. Involuntarily or without club clear sense of what it might mean. This is part of what being mentally ill involves and the fact that he even started this ridiculous war for no obvious reasons is part of that.

People who are mentally ill like Trump is do things for no particular reason or for reasons that nobody else understands or cares about often. He is capable of launching a nuclear weapon if he is allowed to because he's had a bad night.
