No. Doesn't work like that.
Oil needs to refined - regardless of where it's from.
It's more a case of costs, staff and transport.
Transport is the main problem of oil in most cases. The USA is in the middle of bumfuck nowhere in terms of transport - but its costs and staff are relatively cheap.
Nigeria is going to have terrible costs and staff availability will be mid at best.
agree, I don't understand. one would think China would have moved in... but maybe wasn't worth it with oil low. Oil supply now disrupted, makes look worthy to secure.
Likely, and from 1967 to 1971, the Nigerian Civil War claimed 3,000,000 lives as the ruling Hausa forced the influential minority Igbo, who wanted their own nation called Biafra, into concentration camps, where they were forced to dig their graves before they were machine gunned. (Sound familiar, folk?) Incidentally, the Nigerian Civil War began July 6,1967, my 14th birthday.
I did not know that. Always majority vs minority. Need more movies and songs and video games about Nigeria, that's where people learn. It's always rich vs poor... and why it's an issue now in USA.
Until gangsta capitalism is ended.
To get resources from Africa are huge investment in their infrastructure necessary and this make those project less profitable. Another problem are Africana mentality and governments which are very unstable what creates in long run additional costs.
could make it 51st state?
or build big pipeline
Until you don't genocide everyone native in those countries you won't make profits. Brits, French, Germans... tried in 18 and 19th century and atrocities towards natives were easier to hide those days, but resigned at some point due effort>profit equation.
If US think they are better than everyone else, look at Afghanistan, it's the same story.
It's an area and history I know little about. I wonder whom does, definitely want to do it peaceful like china does... make deals and control it.

It'll be easy to get it. Just pay off and arm some warlord. He'll take over in a few months and sell you the oil at a reasonable rate. If not then there's always another ambitious warlord waiting to take over. People there are stupid and only care about mony and power.
I think with adding the resources of both Venezuela and Iran as well as our own resources we should bee set in the oil department for the time being.
not so sure, takes long time to get oil out of Vz...
Iran not stable as yet...
If the world's billionaires would stop disappearing scientists working on free, sustainable energy, maybe this question would become moot?
Nigeria is not a threat to our national security. We don't need their oil.
It is only #11 on proven reserves
No it isn't
