The problem you have is 1) Iran already tried to assassinate Trump a different time. 2) Trump didn't use that as a justification for war, but did airstrike the guy that planned the other assassination attempt while we were hitting other targets, and 3a) Trump already had justification for attacking Iran and authorization from Congress to use military force against Iran due to Public Law 107-40 which was a Joint Resolution to authorize the use of United States Armed Forces against those responsible for the 9/11 attacks. The 9/11 commission report heavily points to Iran and, 3b) Iran has repeatedly violated international law and various U. N. resolutions which justify the use of force by the international community against Iran.
