Didn't this country start from a revolution? At the end of the day history is written by the victorious. Jury of peers in a way.

I don't know the exact qualifications but to out right disqualify because of violence is some goofy stuff.

Being a step removed from violence but pretending your hands are clean is what really pisses me off. Like ice killing civilians and putting people into interment camps to suffer is a form of violence. Any police or federal agents putting or detaining someone is political violence.

Its ultimately the people to judge it.

ABSOLUTELY yes!  When  against a tyrant monarch. Like king of England a real tyrant.  How  to rebel against tax collectors and government officials. But usually not justified , as i wrote here several times about Bangladesh. And other parallel Arab situations.

In dictatorships, yes. Especially ones like Iran where the regime not only suppresses people but murders them.

In functional democracies it never is because the mechanisms of replacing gov't exist. You may not like the majority decision but it always must be respected. Effectively political violence is seeking to impose a dictatorship.

Life is a trade off between maximising social welfare and respecting rights. If you have no other means to improve manifestly unfair welfare outcomes, then sometimes you need to do more than put 1 in a box on a ballot paper. Public rallies, speeches, community town halls...

Society works because the State is granted a monopoly on violence. If there is no other way, then sometimes that grant needs to be rescinded by force.

yes, for the last 10-12 years there have been many murders and assassination attempts against conservatives. It does not look like it will slow down. Maybe the democrats need a wakeup call.
