The country of Georgia also has a gap per capital of around 11,600 USD vs 62,900 USD for the state, the country is not more wealthy and prosperous by any means.

IQ or General Intelligence is not that inheritable and as with a lot of things tends to the mean. A couple each with an IQ of 160 won't necessarily have offspring with IQs of 160. Currently the inheritability is thought to be around 50%.

I think there are attributes related to IQ that are more cultural. In Northern Europe, you would die during winter if you couldn't plan and execute to have sufficient food to carry you over till spring. But that is not necessarily intelligence. It could be a culture to plan extensively that causes people to plan extensively.

In contrast on Pacific Island life is pretty easy. Crops can be grown easily. I was in Vanuatu just after a cyclone. All the crops were wiped out but they weren't in any risk of starving. Plenty of fish. They just didn't have variety they would normally have. They didn't need to plan so the culture didn't support that. No need to preserve foods for example as would be done in colder climes. That is not so much IQ but cultural practices.

@strateguy632 Investing is an intelligent thing to do for example. My father never bought shares for example, so I was not inclined to at first. Culture does influence how you might express your intelligence I guess is where I was going.

IQ tests were invented by a couple of French guys in 1905 and adapted in the US in 1916.


Meaning it’s a test made by white men for white men.


When you invent your own scale and tailor it to your narrative, it becomes a worthless way to measure something universal


That’s not to say intelligence can’t be measured or that we are all equal somehow, because we’re not.


But drawing correlations between intelligence and race using the IQ test is a very biased analysis.


The spectrum of intelligence does not correlate with race.
Especially when we stick to the limited examination factors of IQ testing.

Race is a social construct. The better question is "do our genes play a role in our IQ score" And to that I'd say of course it does! But we also need to factor in nutrition, air quality, culture, etc.

We can't control genes, so I don't think we should spend much time thinking about them. Instead we should focus on culture and nutrition. Not all cultures are created equal. Georgians (from the country) are cool, they are Christians who take pride in their culture and work hard to make a great society. Peach state people (PSP XD) are a mix. Sadly you have a lot of PSPs who think the world is against them and that they will never get a head because of "White supremacy" so they never try. Heck they don't even try to change their smoke detector batteries.

You also have African American gangsta culture, especially among teens, which screws them.
Georgia (country) has your east european James Bond film esque mob bad guys, but not much street crime culture.

Not that there aren't smarter or "more stupid" people of every race, but on average it seems sub saharan Africans have lower iqs than other people, even with standardized education, by 9 or so points. This was found when in the 80s to fight racism in the southern USA, northern democrats built a high tech high school in the southern US with room and board for many black children born to poor families, yet there school grades showed a minimal increase on average.

By the way the state of Georgia has a gap per capita 5x that of the country.

If a race tends to be the same no matter where they are in the world (claiming their oppressed, despite being the cause of all the problems for example) then I think it's safe to start making some assumptions.

I mean yeah, there are racists out there that would be called racist for pointing that out... but they're not wrong actually... but they can judge too... they already know it.

I don't believe race plays a role, but education does. A striking example of this is found in the USA:

* Out of 50 states, the 20 ranked lowest in average IQ are all red, or Republican run states. The occasional exception IS Georgia, not in the average IQ number, but that sometimes it elects Democratic Senators, like now. The local counties and Governor have been Republican for the last 24 years.

* Those rankings also corollate with income levels and state expenditures on education per pupil, as well as teacher salaries.

In other words, it's not about race, in my opinion.

But there is a worse trend
Uneducated high iq areas are mainly white and rural like Montana (103.4), North Dakota (104.8), Wyoming (102.4). worldpopulationreview.com/.../average-iq-by-state
Some areas like Maryland boast high education scores but have lower than average ins and high black pops.
Ironically despite having a small black population, Wyoming's black population is some of the most conservative black voters in America.

Again I am not saying there aren't high iq black people or low iq white people, but on average it seems being black correlates with a lower than average iq globally.

Really? Besides the whole correlation isn't causation point:

* what's the "average" exposure to nutritional food during child growth years of black populations vs white populations? That plays a huge role in brain development.
* what's the average exposure to education in total -- math, science, reading, critical thinking techniques, languages, TRUTHFUL history, in each of these populations?

I'm familiar with World Population Review and have used them as a source in the past, but I have recently questioned their reliability on many occasions. For example, the government site found here, https://files.eric.ed.gov/fulltext/EJ1354139.pdf, ranks Maine 17th. They rank Maine 6th. I lived in Maine over 20 years, and there's no way the average IQ is 103.4 No way.

My point is, skin pigmentation has not been shown in any way to have any real causation relating to IQ, but rather, the conditions I mentioned above absolutely do.

Reading your conclusion, I expect to turn the page and see the Cornerstone Speech by Alexander Stephens of the Confederacy, one of the most disgusting things ever recorded, as a foot note.

Also southeast Asians on average tend to have rates of malnutrition similar to Africa yet score higher on iq tests.

As I said earlier, correlation is not causation. None of these last two comments, nor the others before it, supports your assertion that people with black skin have an intrinsically (that's what you're claiming) lower IQ than the global average because of their skin color.

no way! the difference between georgia state to country is very small. 98-100 near. also both good average intelligence... but CALIFORNIA i always felt that! and true! 94 lots of weak minds! about update: the 'gap in GDP' Related to industry so no surprise country is less industry.

California is mainly explained by non English speakers or highly fluent English speakers being used in the sample size, it has been mentioned that specifically, was a poor test.
Also a 2 difference in iq is actually quite strong, not highly, but a difference and a surprising one given the disparities in resources between the regions.
