Called 911 on a reckless driver, but did police actually pursue them?

Some dude came to a skidding halt barely making a left turn at the intersection and continuing to speed southbound down the feeder. Called 911 and they didn't even ask what the car looked like I just told them where they would be in the next 3 minutes or so. They had to transfer me to the next city over and then I had to explain the situation again. What a joke... I didn't know our emergency call system was still in the 90s I doubt they even dispatched an officer because I can usually only explain things once. After that I probably confused them or sent them down the wrong road and they probably thought I was an idiot lol

My guess is they have tons of those calls that they never pursue unless you're actually following them, then i guess they kind of have to

I called police on a drunk driver once. Unfortunately, it was a rural area and at night, so they had no car nearby. They checked the license plate I gave them and waited at his address in the city.

Im surprised they went that far to wait at their house. Wonder if anything ever came of it? Anytime I've ever called the cops they just hang up and i never know if my call did any good. Im not going to bother calling anymore. Seems like a waste of time in my area. The local dispatcher in my town has a bad attitude and she's pretty much worthless.

No, police is serious here and with drunk drivers especially. They thanked me for calling it in and following the drunk driver. It’s just that in rural areas the small precincts only have one unit on the street and if that one is busy already, they can’t do much, for this type of crime at least.

Not in my area. You can't make it to mcdonalds without seeing at least 2 or 3 county cops and one or two city cops. Except this week I've seen like 3 cops all week. I think they took most of them off their normal duty to assist with a local car meet at the beach that happens once a year.

at best the cops issue an alert and if they happen to stumble across this driver they may stop them. Mostly it is a non issue. Anyone can call the cops on anyone whether it really happened or not.

I figured if they had a patrol car nearby they could possibly intercept them. I just told the first dispatcher that they had probably 3 or 4 minutes before the driver makes it to a particular intersection as their wasn't anywhere else they could turn off and if they could send an officer to intercept. Whats funny is a regularly see 5 or 10 cops pulling people over at the buccees right there. Either way I figured it was a long shot that they would actually catch the guy.

you saying so isn't evidence. so most likely no. if you want police to pursue, you need video evidence at least. police can't act on complaining alone. they need cold hard evidence in order to pursue.
