Do you actually want more data centres in your country?

Ireland is a hotspot for them and we have the 3rd highest electricity bills on earth cause of them and more and more are to come. do you want them?

Not enough to justify a large bump in my power bill like that. I'd be more excited if the centers were actually being built alongside nuclear reactors that could absorb the power needs without raising the rest of our bills.

I'm generally pretty hyped about AI, honestly. So, I'm generally cool with more data centers. I just want this stuff to be done well.

They normally have private power plants. I want a nuclear power grid for them.

Exactly. Nuclear power is the future, but the reactors scare people. "Green Energy" is basically a disaster, outside of limited, small scale applications. I wish people would stop fighting it. The newest reactors are incredibly safe.

Heck, it's not even like Chernobyl was a one-off goof that just happened to have disastrous consequences. That was the result of a series of very intentional, improbable decisions.

It depends on what they are used for, if Blackrock or Palantir is using them then I am against it. Everything else I am iffy on because I am not the biggest fan of cloud computing as I think it's a part of the plan to get you warmed up to the idea that your data isn't yours.

No. Of course cost for resource, power, water, hardware.. will have the society to bear because parasites who profit from AI don't pay any taxes and never invest a cent from their assets.

I don't really understand them, but I know there is a lot of conversation here in the US over the construction of them. Have not yet seen one.

Most of them are going to be defunct in a decade or so. So they are just tax breaks and money pits for the rich and wealthy.

There needs to be some way for these data centers to generate their own electricity and tery need to figure out an alternate way to cool these facilities besides using copious amounts of water.
