We speak American anyway. It's clear from having been to the UK 3 or 4 times that we have butchered their language already and turned it into something different. Making it official would just be for the hell of it but not really necessary.

I believe the official language of the US is English. We speak English, not American, Mexican, or any other language.

true the official language IS English but webster dictionary called it 'American ' due to differences.
