Do you think that the phrase "every accusation is a confession/admission" is accurate?

I tend to use this phrase a bit when talking about certain politics but I am curious if you believe it to be true and if it's true, do you believe it applies to the accusations you make too?

Not every accusation. But accusations are often ironic in that the accuser is guilty of the same thing.

One of the most effective and devious methods of mass deception is falsely accusing others of one’s own misdeeds. This is called “projecting” or “accusation in a mirror.”

Politicians do this every time they open their mouths.
Countries like the U. S. and Israel ironically accuse their enemies of aggression when it is they, themselves who are the aggressors.

Israel uses rape and torture as weapons. It murders harmless people, including women, children, infants, doctors and medical workers, emergency personnel and journalists, and then accuses them of terrorism.
Israel says it has a right to defend itself but denies others the same right.

I probably missed a few.

Then there's the arguments that a few forgotten documents is exactly the same as stealing crates of government documents, hiding them, showing them to people with no security clearance, lying to the FBI about them, etc., or that splitting up families when required by law is no different from having a policy to do so and not track where the children went so they could never be re-united with their parents.

So the term that is mostly used for someone who often accuses others of the very thing they themselves are guilty of is "projection" as they are projecting their own thought processes and probable reactions onto others.

That's like saying everything is a projection, which sounds sort right... not 100%. Not everything is projection.

I'm thinking it's not, but cannot prove it mathematically or by writing code in C++. I only get compiler errrors.

No, I don't. I don't think it's accurate at all. In fact, it sounds to me in some ways like the logical fallacy of not only personal incredulity, but also that of just plain projection.

I'd have two questions in response. The first is what exactly an accusation admits of. The second is what makes one so certain of it. If you ask me, it comes from a position of bias, prejudice, and bad faith. Sure, in some cases, it could be an admission or confession, but it's not true as a general rule. I could just as easily turn it back around and say that the one making such a claim is being defensive, which can suggest that the original accusation is either true or at least has substance to it. I say this because I think that position wants to avoid accountability or deflect criticism.

So no, I don't think it's accurate. I don't think it's clever, I don't think it's even rational.

I think it's generally true in a lot of situations. It's very reminiscent of a quote from Shakespear's Hamlet: "The lady doth protest too much, methinks", spoken by Queen Gertrude. It suggests that someone who denies something too strongly may actually be hiding the truth.

It's certainly true in my experiences dealing with maga/GOP people in the USA. The more power and authority they have, the more often the quote applies.

Statistically speaking this is sometimes correct. Some accusations can very well be evidence based that leads one to be justified in making an accusation. This means that if I accuse someone of something based on logic it should have zero basis to suggest I must be making admission about myself.

It’s not always true. But in the case of Evangelical Christians and Conservatives in general, it’s a question you need to ask yourself every time they point the finger. It’s almost liked they are trained to do it.

Say someone calls you a racist, when you never mentioned race in anything. People jump to that conclusion because they judge people by race all the time and they assume you are doing it to them.
