Who is AT FAULT in this car ACCIDENT?

A car fails to stop at a STOP sign and is T-boned by another car. The other car is stolen and is driven by a driver with a suspended license, convicted of DUI a few months ago.

Help the police, and the insurance companies.

Who is at fault here?

Whose insurance company pays for the damages?

Is anyone ticketed or arrested?

Which car is stolen? The one that did the t-boning? The car that got hit is still at fault for running the stop sign. As for who pays, I'm not a lawyer. Since the other car was stolen it complicates things, but no doubt the other guy will face some legal consequences. But he probably didn't even stay on scene and has no inssurance, so the accident is the least of his worries.

But if I was a judge. I would make both the thief and the driver who ran the intersection pay the ACTUAL owner, and the thief would be getting some serious jail time.

The car that ran the stop sign is at fault, they should be ticketed for failing to stop, and their insurance company is on the hook for repairing both cars.

The other driver is arrested for auto theft or, at least, possession of stolen property. They are also cited for driving while license suspended and depending on the state where this happens, that may also be a criminal offense. However, neither of those crimes caused the accident.

Most of that info is irrelevant to who is at fault. Not stopping at the stop sign obviously caused it.

The person in the stolen car would be arrested for stealing a car I would hope and probably get a ticket for driving on the suspended license too.

Insurance laws surely vary by state. For Arizona, your car is insured no matter who is driving it so the insurance of the stop sign runner would pay for both. That probably doesn't go for every state though.

Don't have a driving license but if ignoring the stop sign caused the accident, then that person is at fault. Didn't matter if the other car is stolen and driven by a criminal or kid or horse. So that person's insurance will pay. The guy with the stolen car gets arrested for probably stealing the car. And in the end everyone gets sued into oblivion because it's the US 🤷‍♀️

The driver who failed to stop should be ticketed. The driver of the stolen car will be arrested. The driver who ran the stop sign is at fault. If the driver who ran the stop sign has coverage for damage caused by his own error, his insurance company will pay for his car. If not he's SOL. It's not clear which insurance company will pay for the damage to the stolen car.

Stop sign was cause ( hrunning it ) so there is the Collison fault , all the rest is addressed seperatly.

The Status of the car and driver does not change who is at fault in the collision ( not accident.. there is fault )

The mistake that caused the crash was failing to give way at a stop sign. The question becomes whether or not the illegal driver actually has any recourse for damages, no doubt the insurance company would be reluctant to cough up.

The car that ran the stop sign is at fault. If the driver is an illegal alien the judge will sneak him out the back door so ICE does not deport him. If he is an American he gets a little jail time.

The one not stopping is at fault for the accident but, the other driver should also be arrested for their several counts of misconduct (or whatever the correct word is).

The one who stole a car has a suspended license and has a part of a DUI is arrested, but not for the accident. Failing to stop at a stop sign is not something you're arrested for. It's just a fine and maybe a court appearance.
