Is it worse to fail yourself or to be failed by others?

I think ultimately it’s worse to fail yourself.

When it comes to others it depends on how much you value the person judging you.
To be failed by someone you don’t even respect is nothing, rolls off the skin
But to be failed by someone who means a lot to you hurts quite a bit. But I think that would mean you also failed yourself since you wanted to please that person and failed

You should have a healthy respect for failure. It can be a great teacher. It also provides context for your successes. But that doesn't mean you should strive for failure every chance you get. 😂 Go for the win every time. But remember what your losses have taught you.

As for other people. Failure here can be just as valuable. Learn to set your expectations realistically low. Trust but verify. 80% of the human race are greedy, cowards, and/or not very bright. Expect them to choose self interest over almost anything else almost every time. It helps to blunt the constant disappointment.

Fail yourself, you adapt and recover to eventually overcome.

Failed by others, you resent, feel betrayed, go inwards and can be hard to fully grasp what happened then grapple with it to eventually adapt, recover, overcome.

I think personally, it's worse to fail yourself. I don't have a very high expectation of people. So when I get let down, it was already expected. Now on another note, i DO know myself and my capabilities. So I'm harder on myself when i fail something

I think it is worse to be failed by others. If I failed, I know that is on me. If others failed me, there is nothing I can do and that hits harder as I didn’t get my shot.
