If Canada, America, and Australia are so similar, why don’t they unite?

Although they share a common language, originating from the founding of their countries by the British. This is where their similarities end.

America was founded by seeking independence through a revolution against the British in 1776.

Australia was transitioned from a penal colony through a series of developments over time. As the population grew and free settlers arrived, the colony gained self-governance, leading to independence in 1901.

Canada became a country through a process called Confederation in 1867, uniting various colonies. This gradual journey involved the evolution of the British North America Act leading to full autonomy and independence in 1982.

Besides their origins, these countries have very disparate cultures influenced by geography and climate and indigenous interactions.

While it may be possible that America and Canada might eventually unite as North America for geograghic proximal, economic and defensive reasons; it is extremely unlikely under the current volatile hostile political climate.

Australia is geographically too far and isolated to join Canada and America.

Canada, Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom. That notably omits America but it would be just a matter of putting a US at the end to be CANZUKUS. Or somewhere else in the string.

It is more about functional union, rather than political union, because our legal systems are very similar as are our values.

Great question! I wonder the same thing. I don't think we should unite into one country, but we should form a coalition that lets us engage in free trade, protect each other and travel to each other's countries passportless. But those countries all hate the US
