Personally, Newsom is completely full of shit for playing the victim card here. He is trying to spin a legitimate local investigation into a grand political conspiracy just to build his 2028 resume. Yes, Washington will absolutely use this politically to hammer him—politics is a contact sport. But the hard facts are that these tax and fraud probes started in California from local whistleblower complaints, not from Trump's desk. He’s using Trump as a convenient boogeyman to dodge accountability for what his inner circle actually did.

Trump's a big baby with a high position and a lot of money. So Newsome has mocked him and hit him with essentially the same sort of garbage he dishes every day, so Trump is going to try to make Newsome's life uncomfortable by siccing his corrupt DOJ on him.
