A whole generation of young Americans only know a country that the world laughs at. How do we show them that we used to be respected leaders?

I don't believe ignorance is unique to Americans. Europeans have literally allowed the conquests of their continent for decades just to avoid being called prejudiced. Many Africans, Asians etc service regimes that brutalize them for the sake of some political or religious purpose. Ignorance seems human.

I don’t think that I’m anyone’s fool and I don’t have to prove anything to anybody. If they hate me for things that I didn’t do (and which have even affected me personally) that’s their problem. I think it would be hypocritical to accuse the US of being the worst country in the world meanwhile being openly racist to Americans and treating us all the same when there is a lot of diversity of opinions here.

Respect yourself without the need to prove anything to anyone.
That's the true matter. Otherwise people might laugh at your effort.. only to respect you later. Don't waste your time in trivials or mere sentimental empty impulses.

Thay goes for Muslim world for example too. Get your job done.. work!
