Healthcare and education is incredibly expensive
The imperial system... do I have to say more?
The list goes on
The election system here is completely rigged, only electoral college members and their benefactors have any say. Suffice to say we don't really have elections.
Most americans understand this, most of us also don't like having people tell us what to do as well, so a lot of us wouldn't vote even if it wasn't rigged.
It's a lose lose situation to us, and the few of us that considered voting on bills instead of people can't get the rest to admit they have enough free time for that.
Healthcare here is actually very cheap, free for low income people, and the disabled or seniors as well. but it's quality is low as a result of being cheap/free, so you have a lot of people here that are against a universal free or cheap healthcare system as a result of that, amd any versions of government spawned universal healthcare that were forced upon people turned out to be more expensive than private paid health insurances.
The imperial system is a practical method atm because industries would need to spend a lot of money converting over to the metric system, and most simply do not want to spend that money just to have another measurement system that acomplishes what the imperial system already does just fine, so it's an economic choice out of frugality, and in that respect, it's actually smart.
The rest of the countries of the world have a very long story, reaching millions of years of age, whereas the US is extremely young (about 500 years, if not slightly less). It was originated as a colony that grew with the knowledge provided by all the other nations. They don't have as long a list of mistakes, achievements, Wars, changes in ideals, governments, and many more as other marina have. Because of that, and because they have prospered on knowledge from third parties, they don't feel like they can do wrong since they "haven't", so to speak. That makes them prideful and unwilling to see the holes in their system.
We are not perfect either, God knows the number of times we messed things up and still do, but we are used to making mistakes, we spot them and, eventually, we will fix them (hopefully). They will take longer since they still have to train their eyes to see their own failures and humble themselves.
God yes, you are absolutely right! :D
To add to your list:
1 The Fahrenheit temperature scale
2 The Second Amendment of their constitution that allows any deranged nutcase with a criminal history to purchase a firearm
3 Hollywood movies - they've become truly awful lately
4 Political correctness
5 Terrorist groups like BLM and Antifa
6 Their grotesque belief in 'manifest destiny', a 19th century concept that many of them still cling to
7 Their tendency to put tonnes of sugar in just about every food they consume. Yuck!
8 'Starbucks', which serves the worst coffee in the world
9 'McDonald's', which is making the Western world fatter
10 They still circumcise their boys, which is an absolutely disgusting, harmful, disgraceful, archaic religious practice with no medical benefits whatsoever.
Many people pretend like they hate the US but their own government is quick to BEG the US for help with all sorts of things. If the US wasn’t so great y r people literally risking their lives to come to the US? Risking the lives of their own kids, abandoning their own families, going against their own culture and beliefs just to come to America and be “American”. There r many things I don’t like about the US but I came from a 3rd world country and comparing the 2... the US wins. I’m not going to let pride blind me of the obvious. America is a 1st world country for a reason.

What is your country, brave pink anon?
Denmark.
Your burglary rate per 100,000 population is almost three times as high as it is in the US.
Your vehicle theft rate per 100,000 population is about 40% higher than in the US.
In WW II, you declared neutrality and expected Hitler to honor that. What happened? Denmark was occupied by Germany.
Your cost of living is one of the highest in Europe.
In Denmark, bats are a protected species.
You burn witches on Saint John's Eve, drag single people into the street and cover them with cinnamon or pepper, and you jump out of chairs on New Year's Eve.
People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones. If you want to be proud of your country, that's great, but there's no need to insult everyone else. When you start throwing insults around, you are simply telling us that Danish people are unkind and arrogant.
Nah, you can't explain everything about a country with a simple google search. The cost is high because education and healthcare is free. Traditions are traditions I don't know what the hell the thing about the pepper is, never heard of it. What happened in world war 2 is very irrelevant. As for the burglary... In America, the MURDER rate is 5 per 100.000.. in Denmark it's 0.8 per 100.000...
The point is that EVERY country has its pluses and minuses.
I love Danish design. YAG talar dansk! :D
The Danes haven’t had to defend themselves in living memory. They are a bit spoiled by the protection and technology that the US provides them.
They are likens teenager that thinks they know best when they are protected by others and they aren’t as smart as they think. When the fuck has Denmark done anything for the world in the last twenty years… for the US the list is enormous.
I worked in a Danish company Novo Nordisk that was stationed in America. Hot skinny Danish girls were there too. One of them said when she left Denmark she missed Denmark but when she came back after living in America she found it boring lol. But me personally I really like Danish design.
@olderandwiser of course every country has its pluses and minuses... America just happens to have a lot of the latter.
One more European Ameica-hater. Dismissed.
No a hater... just facts. The rest of the world looks at America and think to themselves "how does this stuff even happen in the real world"
Most countries aren’t even at the forefront of anything. Denmark isn’t. It’s a backwater country. If Denmark erupted in Civil War the world wouldn’t really react. If the US did, the world would have a stroke. Denmark, just like most countries, just aren’t relevant. Denmark’s total population is more like a single city… a very boring, benign, unimportant city. You are the Cleveland of the world.
Every country is awful and America's only two problems are corrupt politicians and corrupt lobbyists bribing the politicians. Americans still get people trying to illegally cross the border every year over some Socialist piece of shit like your country, so you are in no position to judge. But of course, that's why you do anyway, brave 18 year old pink anon.
The ones who are the most flawed spend the least amount of time of self improvement and reflection. Instead they just like to talk shit behind anonymity on the internet. How stunning and brave.
The election system is awful? Would you rather have one of those systems where the politicians have to scramble around to form a coalition, and if they can't, then boom, call another election. Or, as in some places, the leader can call for a new election if they think it will enhance their power.
And education is free, up to grade 12; in many countries they charge after the 4th grade or so. After HS, a lot of states have low-cost community colleges where you can do your first 2 years towards a degree.
I might go out on a leg and say yes, for some of them.
Of course those who voted for the senile old fuck that now infests the oval office will never admit to their fuckup so they won't accept this notion. Especially considering what their side is famous for.
Namely incoherence, hypocrisy and an overall feeling of mental superiority while being cursed with an abyssal level of general ignorance.
We do realize how privileged and lucky we are to be here. Next door to us, there is slavery going on in Latin America via highly corrupt governments and drug cartels.
Here in this country, we allow gay marriage, freedom to practice any religion, multicultural, the largest equal rights movements in the world (Blm), the most production of black millionaires in the world, the most refugees taken in the world, we donate the most to foreign aid in the world, we stopped hitler from conquering the world, etc.
Most of the things you're naming the rest of the developed world already have... and the BLM movement you have because you actually need it... there's no racism in my country...
The United States is not even ranked top 25 for most racist countries in the world. USA is top 10 in the world for racial quality (we give free SAT points to black students, force universities to accept them over Asian students with higher scores, donated $10B dollars to Black Lives Matter as a nation). Here is the sources:
worldpopulationreview.com/.../most-racist-countries
Okay, sure, let's say the racism isn't an issue. How do you feel about having to check your bank account before going to the doctor? How does it feel to have to pay for education?
The doctor sees us regardless and you are not forced to pay back the medical bills. It will just go to bad credit. Also, education here is the GREATEST in the world. We have the top universities of the world (Harvard, Stanford, MIT, etc). Racism is not an issue. It is exaggerated because people here in my country make money off of racism. Here is a video and example of what I mean on how they exaggerate it. This person makes these videos to receive attention (likes, follows, money, etc)
https://youtu.be/_Ct1Oez-R7U
You are really kidding yourself if you think you have the best education...
What is your country? You better have at least 13% or more of black people there or you can’t be talking.
13.1% of people are of foreign background
That didn’t answer my question. How many black people do you have?
And you can't expect another country to have as many black people as America, that's a history thing
We will send 20M black people over there from our population. Let’s see what happens over there.
... I don't think you can... we're only 6 million people in total here...
Okay so why do you hate the USA
@Bellatris Britain is overrated they’re too arrogant for my taste. Denmark and Italy are better yup
Politicians are awful
Healthcare produced the vaccine that most countries want the US to take the patents off
The US uses the imperial system but is also the only nation to put people on the moon. And the global airline industry uses feet and miles as measures so you have out your life in its hands.
And the list goes on.
So, going by your "logic", the US got to the moon because it still uses archaic units of measurement, and had nothing to do with snapping up dozens of Nazi rocket scientists at the end of World War 2. By the way, both Germany and the USSR use the metric system (it was the launching by the USSR of the first satellite in 1957 that started the space race).
@Bellatris The point is your mocking the US for a measuring system that has been used for many inventions and achievements doesn’t change anything. The US could use the average size of a hamburger of 7.218 Centimeters and can still beat Russia and Germany to Mars. Those Nazi scientists didn’t create all the other amazing things the US did so even that falls flat. The US is a powerhouse of invention and technology and nothin you pointed out changes that at all.
You've missed the rather obvious point of mine that most inventions did not originate in the US, as you apparently believe. For example, rockets. Guess where the mobile phone first made an appearance? In the USSR, back in the late 50's. Radar was developed by the Soviets and British in the mid 30's. The automobile was invented by the French. Refrigeration by the Australians, same with WiFi. The wheelbarrow, fireworks and paper by the Chinese. Writing itself first appeared in Babylonia and Egypt. The TV set was a British invention. The first computer was British as well. Radio by the Italians.
"Powerhouse of invention and technology"! Pfft! Yeah right.
You said the US was a "powerhouse of invention", the strong implication being that the US is where most of what we know today was invented. The US may have been the first to send people to the surface of the moon, but they were not the first to send probes and landers there - that was the USSR, starting in 1959 when they photographed the far side for the fist time. Why have so many decided that the moon landing in 1969 was when "the space race was won"? That isn't the finish line, because space is infinite.
@Bellatris The moon landing is the first time man went to another celestial body. It is a major achievement and won’t be repeated as it can only happen once. It’s bigger than the first flight, which was also an American achievement. It will forever be looked back on as the first time man left the planet and stepped on another celestial body (going into Earth’s orbit is not leaving the planet).
I think thats a shade unfair. It's true that all countries have their challenges. I think the problem with America is oneof wealth. Basically, some very thick people have more wealth than they otherwise would. So, its like giving a child a Porsche to learn to drive in. Cutting Americas' wealth would make them much more humble and far easier to share the planet with.
-What part of the election system? Different Americans have different gripes about it.
-Its expensive either way and you will be paying for it through your taxes. Even if you never go to the hospital.
-I actually agree, the imperial system is dumb because there's no easy way to convert to a higher tier of measurement.
You sound like someone who doesn’t actually understand how hard life can be. The reason everybody wants to come to America is because it’s way better than anywhere else. So how about the next time you say America is dumb you compare it to other countries.
@Bellatris it is a great country
@Zaneprodigy In your biased opinion. What's so great about it? And don't say something like, "We have freedom", because so do countless other nations.
@Bellatris u may personally not want to come to the US but that doesn’t negate the fact that hundreds and thousands of people literally risk their lives and their kids lives to come to the US. people have died just to come to the US. people have abandoned their families and friends just to come be “American”. Obviously America is the shit.
@zed-789 So you've obviously never heard of the problem that Europe has now had for about a decade now with all those economic migrants (aka 'refugees') trying to make it to France, Germany and England from North Africa and the Middle East.
For a long time people tried to get into Australia from South-East Asia, until a sensible government came along and introduced an effective anti-illegal migrant policy.
It isn't just the US that people are trying to get into, but of course being a Yank you wouldn't know that, now would you.
@Bellatris being from South America myself, people want to come to the US any way possible. I know countless of people that it was easier for them to go to the UK in order for them to be able to legal get to the US. U really want to act like people r out here dieing to get to the US? U don’t even live in the US so I don’t even understand how exactly does America even affect u? U can the so dense to deny that to this day there r people that will say fuck their own country tight now if given the chance at coming to America. How u personally feel doesn’t change what us actually happening.
@bellatris and I don't know where ur from, if u have even been to the US or even lived anywhere else but I’ve lived in 4 other south and Central American countries throughout my life before settling in the US. And I’ll tell u this right now. I prefer the BS America has to offer than any of the ass backwardness of Venezuela, Belize, Honduras or My home country Brazil. And I can give u 1000 reasons y each of those countries have shit social norms, crappy government and messed up school systems.
@Bellatris my father erved so i will not let people talk bad about our country
@Bellatris
1 it sounds like you have never been in america
2 we have problems like every other place no one said we where perfect
3 America is great
4 what country do you live in? so i can point out its faults
It's probably not a good idea to bash a country like that. Don't get me wrong, I'm not just saying that because I live in America, just in general, you should be careful.
We can’t have free healthcare in America with the way people eat. The problem is that taxes prioritizes other things and the government is less humanitarian. A partial health care coverage would be nice though.
You’re in luck because once the US collapses, Europe will then have to fend for themselves and won’t have the benefit of relying on NATO to help fund all your special social programs. Also, I would love to see how your tiny little country fares in an attack when you can’t rely on the EU to come and bail you out again. Once the US collapses, Europe will be next on the chopping block.
This is not about Europe. And it's not about alliances or NATO or any of that. The thing we're discussing here is the actual functionality of the country. Maybe read the question again and have another go.
Americans don’t care what you think. Like Europe doesn’t have problems itself. Your country has no identity left and within just a few years you’ll be living in the Islamic Republic of Denmark.
You may have heard about
''North Sentinel Island''
The people there happily live the way they do.
I would not 'judge' them - but won't copy them, either :)
Yes, plenty of us do. Honestly I’m just waiting for this whole shit show to burn down so I can watch the flames.
Reminds me of this scene from "The Dark Knight":
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=efHCdKb5UWc
Yet you're still licking our balls from the third world. What does that say about you?
Excuse me?
I really don't see what this has to do with the question, but sure
American education sucks... but okay
Actually no, my country is ranked higher in terms of education
AND we don't have to pay for it.
Someone has to dedicate their time and energy to educate you even if they are doing a bad job. That is a cost... Does your country enslave people? Even if you don’t pay them a wage, you still have to feed and house them as well as build infrastructure like schools where people are educated. Do you also enslave the construction workers? How about the farmers? All of that labor is a cost. You sure are dumb for someone that thinks they have an education.
You might notice that I haven't called you "dumb" or anything near that once in this entire conversation sir, so could you please mind your language. We pay higher taxes for FREE education and FREE healthcare. On top of the students are PAYED for being in the educational system.
I'm not though... EDUCATION is free... living here isn't
So, now you're saying you don't pay taxes? Which one is it, do you or do you not pay taxes? You're spinning yourself in circles with your own lies. Why would you lie if your system was something to aspire toward? You should be able to lay out the facts and allow people to decide which system works for them best. Instead, you lie because you feel insecure about the deficiencies in your system. You know your system is inferior. You know it has produced inferior results. That’s why I as an American can run circles around your feeble mind.
Dude... We pay taxes... we don't pay for education... why is that so hard to understand... The good thing about that is that we do not come out of education with massive debt. Constructive discussion means you have to listen. You don't listen.
Denmark.
I got nothing from this conversation other than that Americans have a hard time contributing with real arguments in a discussion.
Nah, I'm very secure in my intelligence.
Just had to discuss something with someone with no counter arguments
No you just possess absolutely no brain power whatsoever. Lets compare taxes from where I live and where you live
USA – Florida
Property Tax: 0.83%
Sales Tax: 6.65% (consumer goods)
Federal Income Tax: 10-37% (dependent on income but most pay 12%)
State Income Tax: 0%
Estate Tax: 0%
Denmark
Property Tax: 1.6-3.4%
VAT: 25% on all goods and services
Resident Income Tax: 12.14-15%
Multiple Tax: 24.954%
Estate Tax: 15-36.25%
Education: K-12 is funded through property tax.
College tuition for a bachelor’s degree is about $12,000
1) Florida Academic Scholars: GPA of 3.5, ACT of 29 or SAT 1330, and 100 volunteer service hours. This tax payer funded scholarship pays 106% of tuition cost.
2) Florida Medallion Scholars: GPA of 3.0, ACT of 25 or SAT 1210, and 75 volunteer service hours. This tax payer funded scholarship pays 80% of tuition cost
3) Florida Gold Seal Vocational Scholars: GPA of 3.0.
This state sponsored scholarship pays 24% of tuition cost.
So if you were an OK student in High school, you need to pay about $2,400 for a college degree in Florida. If you were a good student your entire education is cover and you are given extra money to cover books, laboratory supplies, etc. Florida minimum wage is $8.65 an hour and will gradually raise to $15 an hour by 2026. Thus a High School student could work 2 hours a week at a part time job during high school and earn enough to pay for college if they are a somewhat average student or pay for their college tuition without any help from the state with about 10-20% of their first years income. In Denmark they could pay about 24.954% of their income for their entire life plus an additional 0.77%-2.57% per year in property tax for life. What you pay for an education is astronomically higher. It’s basic math, but I guess they don’t teach that in Denmark. You’re definitely paying a lot more, for a lot less.
You lack all logical thinking capability. Your mathematics skills are nonexistent. You call being taxed to death, and then being taxed after death FREE which sounds pretty DUMB. In the USA we have FREEDOM with minimal EXPENSES, but you perceive that as EXPENSIVE. In reality it is a minor one time budget item that any responsible adult can manage. In America we just understand math far better than you. That’s why we do better business, and account for a quarter of the entire world’s GDP, and your country only accounts for 0.4% of the world’s GDP. You can’t do the math...
Don't comment on my mathematical ability. You'll loose. We do not pay "a lot more for a lot less"... our tax is high. Our education is free, we even get payed for being assigned to an education. Healthcare is free, and our doctors are well educated. People are able to take an education, and it is not determined by the wealth of a persons parents. People are not scared to go out at night in Denmark. In America the rape rate per 100.000 people is 44, in Denmark it's about 18. Robbery rates in the US per 100.000 people is 133, and in Denmark it's 32. You can talk about it all you want... but the numbers don't lie.
Is that a fact little girl… Well I easily got As in Engineering Calculus, Discrete Mathematics, Linear Algebra, Statistics & Probability, Biostatistics, many computer science courses, etc. So I’m shaking in my boots… I’m sure anyone is well educated when compared to you. You’re the dumbest person I have encountered on this site. Not only are you dumb, but you are very naive and unworldly. You are a typical narcissist and to dumb to know what you don't know. You don’t have the first clue of what life is like in America. You’re just a village idiot.
Face the facts. Your country sucks. It always has sucked. It was easily out competed by it’s neighbors like Germany, France, England, Spain, Portugal, and others who were technologically and culturally superior all through history. Your country was never attractive or successful. Your culture couldn’t bring in the populous or the talent to grow and become powerful. You are irrelevant, and worse yet you are ignorant and arrogant. Know your place fool and shut your mouth.
Lol. Every country has their good and bad. Why are you worried about what Americans think of their country? America certainly has its issues like any other country.
complain how much you want. they're still playing the global police. only a matter of time till china is gonna be able to beat their ass now.
Yay China :D but I like America too since I’m Chinese American lol
@Caliguy88 Example: Where are all of your high-tech gadgets (like smartphones) made? Not in the US, that's for sure.
The recent viral outbreak that originated in China has destabilised the entire Western world. Your economy has well and truly been trashed, and yet the Chinese just keep on getting stronger, by every conceivable measure (ex. financially, militarily).
@caliguy88 just look at prices for graphics cards in very recent history. They shot up in price and are now 3 times the price compared to a year ago. America depends on China's manufacturing especially in electronics but also in many other sectors. If china decided today to not produce shit for America anymore, america would be fucked. Their entire infrastructure depends on cheap Chinese electronics.
@Bellatris i am of the opinion that this viral outbreak is merely a governmental oppression tool that has proven to be effective in china and that the rest of the world copied (maybe cause the WHO is under Chinese leadership right now). The disease is proven over and over again to not be that bad at all. Yes it is a flu type disease "slightly" above average in severity but not the pest or something comparable which were treating it like.
It sucks everywhere so, yeah.
I'm an American and I'm sure America could be doing way better than this, that's for sure.
And a world wide super power, with an inmense cultural influence. How dumd is the US. Absolutely.
I do agree many are arrogants, and their blind love to weapons, it's incredible.
I guess it hasn’t occurred to you that the system is what the elites of US society want it to be.
