Is being more minimalist and average-looking better for professional roles?

I was just thinking that if you are a professor, a police officer, a doctor, or a religious minister, being normal looking is better than being a model, because if you are too good looking, people might judge you or measure you by the wrong criteria when they interact with you.

Like there were a bunch of Jewish musicians who used to represent a religious group, and their boss had to remove them, because these musicians were so handsome that people cared more about their looks then their worship lyrics. They were replaced with average looking people that were less distracting.
