Is Democratic patriotism conditional while Republican patriotism stays constant?

I agree, and polling backs this up. Republican pride in America tends to remain high regardless of who is president, while Democratic pride drops sharply when they dislike who is in power or the direction of the country.

That is the difference I see. Republicans may criticize a president, Congress, or a bad policy, but conservative patriotism is usually rooted in loving America itself: the Constitution, liberty, the military, our history, and our founding principles.

Too many Democrats seem to treat America as worth loving only when their side controls it. When Republicans are in power, America suddenly becomes oppressive, racist, illegitimate, or broken. That is not ordinary criticism. That is conditional patriotism.
