What do you think about women who wear the veil?

Not long ago, we were forced to wear face masks during the pandemic because of an invisible enemy. To me, it was nothing short of authoritarianism. Around the same time, Switzerland had banned face veils. The ironic part was that a woman wearing a face mask looked very similar to someone wearing a veil. As a result, some women simply wore face masks instead, effectively using them as a substitute for a veil, and nobody could really object to it.

They should be free to wear whatever they want as a matter of personal liberty. Individual rights should not be put to a referendum

I have no problem with their faith, but for reasons of public safety, they should be required to show their faces—just as people in the Middle Ages were expected to carry a torch when walking at night

It is a mix of 2nd and 4th for me. In Malaysia I was impressed at how much effort these women put into their eye make up and how strongly they held my male gaze. I wouldn't have been happy if I was their husband.

Locally it has been an issue in court cases because a defendants reaction is certainly something juries look at. Veils hide that and if the giving testimony or are a defendant they should be unveiled. There are a few 'ISIS Brides' regrettably back in Australia who have been charge with human rights violation and they will try to get away with this I'm sure.

Overall I don't think it is acceptable that they can hide their face and avoid that public accountability.

After the Bondi massacre in Australia, an Islam Ambassador is trying to tell us we shouldn't hold Islam to account for terrorist plots planned and executed. Sorry but if they do shit, people will. They hold street parties to celebrate a massacre than the next complain at the victimization over them celebrating the people they have killed.

It just doesn't work and some mullahs need to be proscribed, preferably deported after being de-citizenized.

The UK steams full on ahead with authoritarianism, with facial recognition cameras coming to a town near you. But we're told that there can be a religious exemption? Fuck that, you should never treat a native class as second class citizens.

I'm okay when they do that in their countries but I'm against burqas and hijabs in mine.
Muslims are an aggressive cult, it start with burqas, goes over pig meat bans, taxes for non-muslim and sharia for all. It's better to destroy this cult before it can even catch a small hold.

I have negative feelings about a full burqa. It feels threatening and almost like a form of aggression for some reason. It''s like a big fuck you to the world.

Interestingly, traditional Muslim women's attire in most regions was beautiful and didn't cover the entire face or even all their hair. That changed when Salafists took over in the 1980s.

But I have zero problem with a hijab and clothing that covers the entire body. I don't see why a woman wouldn't be allowed to show her face.
