There isn't a day that goes by in summer when one of my neighbours isn't doing their garden, and using motorised gardening equipment for nearly all the day.
Motor vehicles are required to have silencers on the exhausts, why isn't there a law on gardening equipment?
The motors are screaming at approx 90 to 100 decibels, and they can heard over ½ mile away, and when it's much closer the noise is intolerable.
The garden equipment being used is mainly the hedge cutters, the edge trimmers, the blowers, and the small grass mowers.
It's noise pollution just like any other pollution, and therefore should be treated as such, and should be banned from being used, unless they can be operated quietly.
What is your opinion?
They must realise the amount of influence I possess in the world today, with my account on GAG's.
I must be the envy of President Trump 🙂

I would support a limit on the hours during which they can be used.
Do you have a yard?
I understand the annoyance of those loud, two-stroke engines. Leaf blowers are particularly obnoxious. But how can people avoid using power lawn mowers, weed eaters, edgers, and even hedge trimmers?
It's kind of a quandary because nobody wants the yards in their neighborhood to look messy.
All I can suggest is a change of outlook. Instead of obsessing about the annoyance, think of those things as happy sounds that don't last long. It is just people buzzing around, working to keep their yards beautiful. And it's kind of like the sounds of children shouting and screaming while they play outside, or people playing music. You can think of it as either disturbing or as joyful sounds of life.
I use manual gardening equipment, no motors involved.
@Sunrising. That's really cool. Kudos.
A manual push mower is a lot of work.
Where I live, my wife and I have a small orchard, veggie and ornamental gardens. We don't have any lawn. But our house is surrounded by oak grassland. In the spring, wild grasses and weeds grow high. So once they dry out in late spring/early summer, we have no choice but to do a mass weed eating once a year. We manually weed and prune out gardens, though, and that's ongoing throughout the year. .
Your place sounds wonderful.
For me it's a bit of exercise to keep my place tidy, though I've never been a gardening fan, because I'm only experienced at growing weeds, and I can't grow anything else 🙂
You sound retarded. If you don't want to exist around people, move further away. People don't want to listen to you talk either. We consider noise pollution, but so long as you're doing it on your own land we let it slide.
How would you feel if your neighbours held a concert every day with 90 decibel music blurring out, would you consider it's their property, and they can do what they like.
Of course not.
Even aircraft are banned from airspace if they make too much noise, why should there be an exception for gardening equipment?
I knew you were mentally retarded. You just talked about feelings and then tried to argue that I wouldn't think their land was their property if they played music. That's some dumb shit. You can't even form coherent thoughts.
Well maybe you need to look into sound proofing your home. They have time restraints where I live. There's a reason for the noise. The cost is enough to prevent doing anything with the simple but wonderful machinery. It has to be done to keep the jungle in order.
Yes, I've been disturbed early when needing to sleep but it's part of society. Living outside the city is the best way to deal with that I guess.
They are also super inefficient. You can smell all the gasoline not being used to power them up. The same gasoline could power a dirt bike for a week compared to a day use of leaf blower.
Yeah, they are annoying. Everything my family uses is battery. Some still make noise, but much less noise.
We even have a robot lawnmower now that makes no sound at all.
They should not be banned but people should not use them on weekends too early in the morning. I wait until after 10AM before I mow my lawn so I do not wake up my neighbors.
Yes, I support that. There is a combustion engine lawn mower ban in my district and it's much quieter now at summer evenings.
i understand you are annoyed but you sleep at night not by day. be happy the neighbor is not neglecting the grass. a garden is a great thing.
As far as those noisey leaf blowers go, why hasn't anyone invented a muffler for them yet? Then they wouldn't bother people.
I'm not on board for banning equipment ran on gas as long as they aren't using it at weird hours like 2 am etc.
@Sunrising They should change to electric equipment like mine
That would be amazing...
https://www.youtube.com/embed/RAYnqjVqftsI don’t care do much about the noise as I do about the smell of burning oil.
What are you, an 1800's farmer?
I wish my neighbours had 1800's gardening technology lol.
Let’s calm down a bit.
Nah, they don't bother me.
