Britain. At no point has Argentina or spain ever owned them and mo Argentinans ever settled there.

Basically in the early 80s the Argentinan fascist government decided that they wanted them to distract from economic and social problems at home believing that Britain as it had largely dismantled its military by late 1970 wouldn't go to war over the Falklands.

The complete defeat in the Falklands was a major humiliation for Argentinan national pride and they try to remedy this with soccer. Im sure the reason this has come to the fore again is that Argentinan once again is in trouble economically.

The people who live in the Falklands are British and don't want to be part of Argentina.

@Just_Ken exactly it always seemed kind of pointless to me that just because they were geographically close to Argentina, Argentines believe they should belong to them. There was never really a strong Argentinian presence there like you said. But I guess what bothers them most about the whole ordeal was all the lives they lost in a war that wasn’t even that long ago… but they should blame Leopoldo Galtieri for sending all of those young men on a suicide mission to die for a pointless war, the British were just defending their own citizens on the island from fascist aggression.

I belong he's leveraging for UK support in the Straits of hormus because the Royal Navy has not shown up as it always used to.
During the Falklands war US support was critical for the British and if Britain had to defend the Falklands again could Britain count on US support? or will Britain find itself fighting the latest F16s sold by thd US?
All Trump did i believe was cite the right to free speech in the US.
