I defend a victim if the bully goes too far. Otherwise I observe it like a clinical experiment.
Some people when they feel social approval of the group the fall in uncontrolled rage, it's similar with violence. However second option to intervene is difficult for a girl alone, but being friends with some dangerous but not violent guys helps in such situations.
