We've all done it, driving through an unfamiliar area. we take a wrong turn and stop at a red light. Light turns green, but the car won't move, and you see four kids legging it with your wheels.
We all know the kinda place, locals take ten mile detours around it, no one opens the car window or stops no matter what. Should you break down you make peace with God and hope the news shows a nice photo of you tomorrow.
Now I propose every neighbourhood gets colour coded on road signs.
Green = nice safe area Yellow = generally safe but use cation Red = enter at own risk Black =abandon all hope ye who enter here.

I love the concept. It makes me ponder what color the Crazy Bitch Servo up the road should be.
It is called Crazy Bitch because a crazy bitch went there to buy a lighter and accelerant to set the petrol pumps on fire. When she resisted arrest the policeman gave her a good kick which seemed to restore her mental facilities markedly. Excellent first aid by the cop.
It was on the news again last night because a guy went there to buy scissors to stab other customers with. When the police car came, the customers threw him out and he tried to hide under the police car. Pretty canny of him you have to admit - he almost got away with it.
Crazy Bitch Servo is definitely not Green It has been a whole six months since the last psychotic event. Does that make it only Yellow? But setting a petrol station into raging inferno is the kind of fun that can go wrong.
Does that make it Red or even Black?
100% support this rating system but I think we need to flesh out the risk, probability and consequence a bit more.
Maybe we could get the International Standards Organization to make a world wide standard. So that no matter where you might wander, you know what could happen in Black alleys.
Gotta love that billboard trying to rebrand Harrison Arkansas from a Red State Shithole and the national headquarters for the Ku Klux Klan to a warm and lovely town full of beautiful White people. Sorry, I'm not buying the rebranding of 100 years of racism and lynchings.

So don't fix the problems of poverty, education, and crime, just wall them off?
You may stay out of their neighborhood but your neighborhood may look like a golden opportunity to put all the skills they've acquired living in Hell to use. And they have nothing to lose.
It would probably work in primitive countries like i. e. Florida.
But thinking about (again: i. e.) the EU members: they may have different ideas about the colour coding. What is green in Portugal, might be brown in Cyprus.
They can't even agree on good music ( see: (i. e.) the 'Grand Prix d'Eurovision')
Also: Kids will have to get their wheels from public parking lots. How do we expect to get them home? In a bus?
It would be easier to adopt the ''Israelian principle'': Put a fence up, and shoot everything that moves on the other side. Colours then will not be needed.
You can call e racist if you want but over my almost 50 years of being alive, I’ve learned to not live in neighborhoods w one particular race. Figure it out. As for your question. It might work. If I think the biggest thing is we don’t really punish people for committing crimes.

No…. They need to be fixed. More policing if that would fix it. More urban renewal if that’s what it needs. Don’t just color code a problem then move on.
Interesting concept, but who decides what a bad neighborhood is, what criteria are used to determine its level of badness? And how often is it updated?
It is a subjective judgement that a neighbour is bad. If only 1 person were allowed to give an answer we'd all be living in singledom and avoid each others
Ever notice when going through impoverished locations that signs are just graffiti'd or destroyed entirely? Not sure this is a solution. You would only see the Yellow and Green.
I think that people who consider questions like this should reevaluate their motivations and the effect of such a proposal on the people who live in the area. I believe that individuals who contemplate questions like this should reconsider their motivations and the impact such a proposal would have on the local residents if it were to be implemented.

Red lining is a thing. A form of race segregation.
White= excersise normal percautions
Yellow= exercise increased caution
Brown= reconsider all travel
Black= DO NOT TRAVEL
