Main problem of western economies. Only poor people pay taxes and upkeep infrastructure. People like Musk even if they pay officially a lot of taxes they get more back they paid due investment subsides and other taxation financed benefits.
Imagine just 1% of share market transaction would generate trillions annually but elites will never allow that because it's their money.

They may be paying a couple of million in taxes, but they are taking out at least twice that.

In mine only the top 20% pay next tax. At a point it becomes optional to pay tax because you can afford use various mechanisms to reduce. It is hard to tax more that corporate tax rate because people can set up companies to work through and spread money out through wife and kiddies. You can buy loss making properties that reduce your income but give you capital gains.

Middle class welfare is the major problem.
