They are ALWAYS trying to keep us at each other’s throats. That way we never stop to realize that they are the real problem and always have been.
The powers that be could not stop the people of this country if we ever actually joined together to force positive and meaningful changes for the law abiding, working class citizens of this nation. They know that. So the media constantly spews rhetoric that keeps “us vs them” going in various forms.

  @Dargil - by keeping us busy with seemingly important stuff such as overseas conflicts (justified, or not), inciting and engaging us against each other's ''ideologies'', dictating what we can do and what not, dictating what we can say and what not, dictating what we must think and what not.
  I could add more.
  Personal ''freedom'' has become very selective.
  And over all this, the ''ME'' in 'the System' is reduced to what is good for me (and what not) - while otherwise we spend less and less time reflecting our own immediate life.
