What is the difference between stand your ground and self-defense laws by state?

"Stand Your Ground laws in XXXXXX mean there is no duty to retreat before using force in self-defense if you are in a place where you have a lawful right to be, while self-defense laws generally allow for the use of reasonable force to protect oneself from imminent unlawful force. Some states like California have duty to retreat laws, meaning you legally have to use every reasonable avenue to escape before you can use lethal force.

Most states have a stand your ground law, basically meaning you dont have to retreat if you aren't the instigator and are somewhere you're allowed to be.

Some have some variation of castle doctrine, where you can defend yourself and your land etc. From anyone that is a reasonable threat

My state has a public duty to retreat and castle doctrine, so in public i have to leave if I can, but if I'm on my land? I'm not running, I will execute them on the porch

Self defense laws infer that the person exhausted every available option before having to kill the intruder. Stand your ground laws do not specify anything about running away.
