I don’t really have an opinion on abortion per se.
I consider it in the grander scheme of parental rights and responsibilities. What i know is that men have more responsibilities and women have more rights. Until that is no longer true, there’s no sense in patronizing people’s “arguments” about abortion as a “right”.
The best argument against the current prevailing argument of “abortion isn’t murder because a fetus isn’t alive” is the Unborn Victims of Violence Act. Literally EVERY state in the US has convicted people of killing unborn babies in a variety of ways. If you cause an auto accident in which an unborn baby dies, you can and will be charged with murder. But if that mother kills her baby herself, she’s not.
If two women get into a fight and one kills the other, who turns out to be pregnant, the killer can and will be charged with double homicide. This is true in every single state.
So their argument is wholly unfounded. It can’t be alive only when the mother wants to keep it, or doesn’t explicitly want to kill it, but it’s not alive when the mother does want to kill it.
They’re trying to make women into a special class of people who don’t have to obey the same laws as everyone else. Unfortunately, our Constitution guarantees equal treatment under the law. But that particular group of idiots hasn’t had much use for the facts in years, and they only care about laws when it suits them.
I also take exception with the fact that men can’t even back out of responsibility for a child when they learn the child isn’t theirs. Or when a woman comes by his sperm in a deceptive or even illegal manner. There’s literally no way for a man to legally exempt himself from his responsibilities as a provider, under any circumstances. AND we have no say whether a woman has our baby or not.
Men have only responsibilities.
Women have only rights.
Until men have rights and women have responsibilities, there is no debate to be had.
I don't think it's a question with an answer that fits every situation.
It involves two things most people deeply value, respect for human life and respect for personal autonomy.
The difficult part is that, in some cases, those values can come into conflict.
That's why, I think it's a subject that deserves more humility than certainty.
That is a personal decision, something YOU have to live with. Everybody has an opinion on what to do, but the actual responsibility for your action either way is yours. Please think long and hard about what you are going to do.
Not nice but sometimes it's required. Everyone should have access to it.
@lilBigPotato is that a conservative view? 🤔 seems to be
@FrodoSkywalker007 would be new to me that being pro abortion is considered conservative.
It's how you worded it.
Most conservatives accept abortion in certain circumstances.
They see careless use of it a moral problem.
Only diehard conservatives want it outlawed in all cases.
@FrodoSkywalker007 I'm generally pro choice. It doesn't matter if it was rape, broken condom or drunk careless hookup.
But obviously it's not something that you should treat as alternative contraception method and should only be done in early stages and I'm also ok with things like mandatory consultations. But in the end it's her body and her choice and she should have the choice. Raising a kid that you don't want isn't a good choice either.
That's precisely what many conservatives argue.
The issues most bring up are late term abortions or using it as an alternative contraception. They use arguments like "more black abortions than births in NYC" to show the moral issue.
Only the more hard-core and ultra religious want it outlawed in every case.
Even the overturn of Roe V Wade simply gave control to states as opposed to the federal government
Honestly, I feel like you are a centrist. You hold some conservative views on issues, and some liberal perspectives. You are clearly not left wing. I think I remember you mentioning immigration views that are very conservative. 🤔
@lilBigPotato my body, my choice 🤔 i think it would be better if you had word it like that: my bag of chips, i choose the flavor 🤣🤣
Its a unanswerable moral choice that has to be left up to the individual woman.
My opinion is that abortion is murder, dressed up in language that's meant to hide what it really is.
It's evil and selfish unless they were SA and or have medical issues
The deliberate murder of an innocent pre-born life. And sometimes even AFTER that life is born
It should be available without restriction
It’s the murder of an unborn child
Anti abortion except for harsh reasons!
It is murder.
