Often politicians these days will try to introduce laws and bills they know will get shot down or thrown out.

Something does need to be done though. Corporations are now becoming landlords and they are pushing people put of their homes and neighborhoods driving up rents and house prices to unaffordable heights for most people. They are litteraly block buying whole neighborhoods. Cities rely on working people to keep them running but whats the point if you can't afford to live in the city you work in? I say this as a landlord myself

Yes it is an abuse of power. And it’s not working, Rents have gone up. You want rent to go down there is only one way…. Remove the illegals who are taking up all the rentable property. When more units become available and have to compete then rents will go down. Simple supply and demand.

Rent stabilized housing rates are subject to all kinds of regulations. I'm not familiar enough with NY State or city laws or this situation to offer a thoughtful opinion. He may well be within his right to do so, and the courts will decide.

Probably. All rent control measures increase the rents on property not subject to rent control, and depress building new units.

It will bankrupt landlords. Government will take over the property, neglect to the point of it being unliveable and create more homeless people.
