Why do so many Australians seem blunt and lacking in basic manners?

Why do manners seem to be less common in Australia? It often appears that many people lack basic manners, common courtesy, and respect for others. Some Australians can come across as blunt, rough, or lacking in refinement and social grace. While this is certainly not true of everyone, it can create the impression that standards of politeness and respect have declined. Since courtesy, respect, and good manners are important principles of any civilised society, why does Australia sometimes seem to struggle with these values?

I've interacted with quite a few Australians and have some family friends who came to visit us from Australia. They all were very nice in my opinion. Yes they were loud and I suppose not as "refined" but I didn't feel like it was disrespectful or rude at all. They just have a different culture, as we all do.

they have different cultural expectations. they don't do the stuff that locally is considered rude. they probably don't emphasize trivial etiquit.

I've been to Australia countless times and interacted with many Australians over the years. Never felt that way about them.
