I don't understand? Does this mean young chinese are the ones dying? Or what?

I expected old people to die. When i saw the chinese plan succeed, by the overpopulation fell -by 3 million last year i believed that some were born but 3mn more than births, they died. The old died. So less old. But if so-

If more born (i guess i should add explanation- for those who add 9+9+9 and get 21 or 24 which are both common replies these days -but one of the answers must be wrong -cough, that those born are young and increase the group young people), while millions less of old, the median age should be younger than before?

how can we explain: despite the success of "overpopulation decreased by 2 million and more: 3mn each year for 3 years" but median age is older?

Despite births still 3 million more deaths than births
Despite births still 3 million more deaths than births

Picture we see less in 2023 and later "more less" and again but the age in middle is older so Why?
