Make the individual’s crimes public. Go to the media. Hold protests and remind elected officials that they can and will be replaced if they continue to endanger the public by not properly vetting first responders or holding them accountable for their criminal behavior on or off duty.

"Criminal" is irrelevant.

Sickminded people can do evil without a criminal past. Others get a bad record for misunderstandings.

Police does immoral harm all the time and many of them never get labeled "criminal".

There should be strict mental health checks, which includes views on morality and unresolved trauma. The training to become one of them should include mandatory therapy of uncovering their own childhood repressions even for those who are healthy they should still go through it, and objective morality education. Which is really common sense; being immoral creates suffering, and the more there is suffering in the world the worse a place to be in it is. And it just so happens that tyrants who do not believe in it or cannot force themselves to accept it, are atteacted to jobs that create a sense of "authority".

Cutting such funds will make police deaf and blind. However there should be two iron limits.

- Criminals on payroll shouldn't be worse like others they bring behind bars. Some of those people feel like they are being untouchable by the law.

- There is always risk of fraud with money that doesn't flow 100% over official channels.

@Agape93 I am familiar with and have completed LEO training, and no department I know of will ever hire a prior criminal. That said, they do knowingly KEEP employed, cops that break the law i. e. "assault under cover of authority" and I can testify to that as a VICTIM of 'assault under cover of authority...

a woman recently was drunk and killed two people on motorcycle. Lets say she gets 2 years for some reason. She might make a good ems sfter that.

They do. But problem cops often transfer departments to avoid making the current department look bad, like when cops murder or rape. Or when ems steals or assaults someone. All I reference i can bring up examples if I need to.
