I feel kindness is too selective,
It mostly goes to people who are more similar to you or better than you.
There are exceptions to that always.

Want to test it? Get a great haircut, new cool clothes, clean yourself top to bottom for days, clip nails and get everything looking top notch. Then go out in public including restaurants and elsewhere with lots of people and opportunities for service industry folks to give you and others in other groups service. Also look for favors from other customers like moving ahead or cutting through a group.

Then dress down. Not quite right hair, perhaps too long, older clothes but not rags, not in style clothes, more off style and a tad weird. Terrible shoes. Maybe that rolled out of bed look. You can test how far you want to go with it to see the results.

Not always. Sometimes attractive people do get treated better, and sometimes they get treated even worse because there’s many jealous people out there too. Then there are those who might be interested in them or have a crush on a very attractive person but are to intimidated by their beauty to say anything because they’re afraid of rejection.
