Do you volunteer or donate? Question inspired by @dishlady and her school supply donations.

I see a lot of homeless people at one of my jobs. I give them free water, fountain drinks, coffee, and buy them food or a beer if they ask. I always keep a spare jacket or sweatshirt in my car and have given away at least 5 of them to homeless people. Thanks for reminding me, I need to go buy another one before fall. 80% of them around here are drug addicts so I never give them money. Never give a drug addict money, you are just enabling them. I don’t know how many times I’ve seen homeless people here ask for money for food and then people buy them food instead, and when they drive away the homeless person just throws the food on the ground because they wanted that money for drugs.

All the time... I help veterans, single moms\dads, children, college kids, families in need... Most of the time I do it anonymous, I also do my St. Nick thing every year...

I do guerilla stuff. If I see neglect like road signs not getting fixed ill go at night and fix them. There were road signs left laying along a road in Death Valley National Park. They layed there for a month. I bought a shovel along on my next trip and planted those signs. Another time I put bolts in where signs were hanging by one bolt. The most fun I had was at a Walmart. All the carts were out in the cart corals. 3 young employees were just standing around by the front door talking. I went and started pushing carts into the store so people could get carts. People in the store looked like they wanted to aplaud. Those lazy ass employees just seethed and looked like assholes. Good times.

I used to volunteer doing IT work at the local school system. I was a volunteer for a political candidate for governor. I might do that again.
