To what extent do you think alcohol can excuse bad behaviour?

Only words. But not violence. People get silly and exagerated when drunk. Not really mean it. Like i disagree with my ex to blame mel gibson for a drunk rant. The rant was just drunk he did not mean it. But violence due to drunk is no excuse. That isn't loose tongue.

It doesn't at all. Choosing to drink in excess to the point of not being able to control your behavior was avoidable, and a bad choice leading to some other bad choices. It's open telling everyone you have no self-control and can't take responsibility for your actions as a result of them. It piles more issues on top of other issues.

in my opinion it never does. And if someone has a problem with alcohol consumption they should try to improve themselves.

As far as the police or the court judges can decide really or past case law and the penalties for civil or criminal drinking etc
