Because frankly, illegal immigration, AND excessive amounts of even legal immigration, are detrimental to everyone except:

1. The Leftoid activist academic parasites, who want to:
(a) count them in the Census so as to create the 21st century version of "rotten borough" districts for themsleves, where only a handful of their cadres voting can actually decide elections, rather than a proper district of about a half million US citizens each,

(b) and in time, indoctrinate them to be Leftoid parasites too.

2. The Wall Street Journal Globalist Greedhead types (that U. S. newspaper was most notorious for this sentiment), who just wanted cheaper gardeners, maids, and other hired help, actual effects on the larger body politic be damned. It's like they want to prove Vladimir Lenin correct; when the time comes to hang the Wall Street Journal capitalists, the WSJ will have sold them the "rope" of a restive underclass with which to do it.

It was telling that when Donald Trump enforced the borders at last in 2017, African American unemployment *fell to record lows* by 2019. Remember, unemployment figures are those *actively seeking work*, and with illegals cut off, occupations among the lower classes that were more brawny became more rewarding! (No, this does not mean African Americans cannot become middle or even upper class, but current and past socioeconomic realities are what they are. Moreover, occupations like construction used to be pathways to the middle class for less educated and less advantaged, until a flood of illegal aliens ruined that path).

Meanwhile, among the middle and upper classes, we have seen the abuse of H-1B visas, imported workers of which type have become the 21st century version of "indentured servants" for the tech industries. Why study hard to get an Engineering or Medical type degree when the wage reward of those occupations were undercut by floods of H1-B labor from overseas?

Instead, Americans go study Business or Hospital Management, obviously less useful than Engineering or Medicine, because native cultural and linguistic advantages make these occupations places where the H-1Bs will not take, although a generation down the line their children will be in the same situation.

They're not! It's just fashionable to be against immigration right now. So the people who are are being very vocal about it. Honestly most people are just worried about their own life and their bills. And most people are not DIRECTLY affected by mass deportations. Will it eventually affect them? Yes. In a myriad of ways. But again, that is NOT their current focus.

I think what Americans need to be cognizant is this is where it STARTS. But that does not mean that is where it ENDS. America has largely ignored the immagration problem in this country for 50 years. Now thei adminastration is trying to right that all in 4. Problem is they're being pretty ruthless and indescriminant about it. They are getting rid of a lot of people who should not be here. But not all of them are an imminent threat. And we still should follow to rule of law. They should still get due process.

Because many Americans are convinced that their problems are due to the activities of people who didn't fill out form before coming to the US and thereby committed an infraction. Not even a misdemeanor just an infraction which is about the equivalent of a parking ticket. The Americans have been convinced by the right wing. This transgression is equivalent to a horrible crime. The only criminals from all of this are the people that keep trying to convince everyone that immigrants are somehow a problem. The real problem is the people trying to convince everyone of this. These are the same people who don't want anyone but white people voting.

Arbitrarily not enforcing federal laws, and then costing the taxpayers billions to secure and divert funds to support and care for a million people, and then mismanaging the funds is going to piss people off. If you wait years to get into this country legally, you’re going to be pissed too.
