Gas prices drive inflation high and US govt needs inflation otherwise they can't buy bonds back and pay interest to banks.
By the way EU, Japan and S. Korea demands US buys bonds back their time limit is since years and decades over. With this money they want to buy gold or other bonds from countries with more stable interest rates and love inflation. If US doesn't buy bonds back, no bank, no institution or no country will lend US govt. new money. High inflation lowers rating of a country, what means this country has to pay higher interest rates for future loans.
