So BookFace just got slapped with an $18 billion judgement for promoting internet addiction. Why is government always 20 years behind technology?

Bookface was launched in 2004. Why is government always 20 years behind technology? A coalition of 48 US states just won a settlement from Mark Suckerberg's money vacuum. Aside from $18 billion in punitive damages, the Suckerberg money vacuum will also implement changes that will supposedly limit time online for minors and other changes to at least not encourage addiction. And the plan is to expand this sort of agreement to all social media platforms.

But an entire generation, maybe two, have been damaged already by growing up in an addictive virtual fantasy with online bullying and impaired ability to interact with other people in the physical world. We can all see it every day in their attempts to cope with life. Work from home culture hasn't helped. We have 1 or 2 generations of socially dysfunctional people.

Why did it take us 20 years to face into the problem?

How long will it take us to put guardrails in place for AI?
