Should the Canada goose be renamed the America goose?

The Canada goose is a well known bird that can found all over the North American continent and parts of Europe. So is it fair to call it The Canada goose or should Trump rename it the America goose?

When I was growing up, I was taught that their name came from an ornithologist named John Canada, who first identified their migratory habits. I later found out that's complete BS. They are named for where they spend much of their time, the northern part of the North American Continent, Canada, a word that comes from Native Americans, specifically the Iroquois, that means "settlement".

Let them keep that name. Don't confuse the geese.

Well if he does end up calling them American geese, I’ll have to let all the geese around here know. I think it’s crazy that he thought of changing the names on maps and historical monuments. The Gulf of Mexico is the Gulf of Mexico, not America.

The Canadian side of Lake Ontario was not renamed. In Canada they can call it a Canadian goose if they want, in America they can call it an American goose if they want, but the president doesn't have any power over animal names the way he does over bodies of water that are part of the United States. Half of Lake Ontario is in the U. S. (Lake America) and half is in Canada (Lake Ontario). All of the Gulf of America is in the U. S., so all of it is the Gulf of America.
