It's the Internet, people lie all the time. If they can't be seen they don't care. Over the years I've talked to people claiming they were in the Illuminati, claiming they were celebrities, a girl who claimed to be 18 but it got found out she was using her big sister's photos and really turned out to be 13 (she got banned), chicks creating male accounts that sound like they empathize with women, etc.
I think from time to time we all leave out certain details in what we talk about or change them a little for privacy reasons (you don't know if someone you know could be on here and they might recognize you based on things you've talked about), but just straight up lying about significant things? No reason for me to do that.
