The truth doesn't support his narrative. Also, if you take out energy and natural resources, the US exports a lot more to Canada than Canada exports to the US. The real question should be, why does Trump make a bigger deal about the trade war than Canada? If it was so bad for Canada you'd think they'd be more upset than Trump is. Trump looks a lot more desperate to make a trade deal with Canada than vice versa. If the US didn't need Canada, Americans should be indifferent to Canada walking away from trading with the US.

We are indifferent. Canada is playing with 25% of their GDP vs. the U. S.' 2%. In poker it's called a safe call. If Trump is right and Carney's bluffing, things become fair. If Trump is wrong, we lose 2%. And Canada has to find a new daddy.

Best case scenario, Ontario and Alberta vote for WEXIT and really force Carney to grovel at Trump's feet.

Trump, Bessent and Lutnick aren't indifferent. Carney is not bluffing. Canada has moved on. It's not about 2%, its about 26 states losing their largest export market. This isn't poker. Poker has winners and losers. This is business and sometimes you need new partners to have a mutually beneficial long term business relationship. Americans seem to not get this, it's not personal, it's just business and we're taking our business elsewhere and diversifying to meet our long term goals. So don't cry about it and say we need you, just shake hands and move on.

You really don't understand Canada. Alberta and Ontario won't separate. It's a fringe movement with low support.
