Should international disputes be settled through the Olympic games?

This is a thought that i had decades ago; ironically when i portrayed myself as ultra conservative. Ell oh ell!
Put an end to wars. Disputes are settled through sporting events. It sprung into my imagination upon learning that the earliest games were essentially war games. I thought it curious that nations would invite other nations to see the best that they had to offer. The games would sometimes have an effect on allegiances and wartime strategies, but did they mitigate war at all? Maybe. But i’m talking full embargo on war. Everyone participates in the games and everything is decided therein. Might makes right with a negligible death toll.
Would you support settling international disputes with the Olympic games? If so, should it be considered for domestic disputes between states and territories or even political parties? Whenever a compromise cannot be reached through debate, arm wrestle for it! I’m only seeing the upside. What would be the downside?
