In the UK, it's not unusual for people of the constitute countries to call to separate from the union. Scotland likes to have a referendum every few years. There are even those in parts of England who'd like to break back into the original little kingdoms.
But now the tiny village of Piddington wants to break away from the UK and become part of the USA. The reason given is they don't want migrants living in the nearby old military units.
So thoughts, should Piddington leave the UK and become the next USA town?
I believe that citizenship and sovereignty are inextricable in a free society. If people want to be free, then they should be free. If people want to be ruled, then they should be ruled. I am fairly certain that each expects the other to abide by their rules because of insecurities. Seeing someone live happily contrary to yourself can make you wonder if you’re doing it wrong. As well it should because you might be doing it wrong. More likely, there is more than one way to live well, and live and let live should be the fundamental principle of a free society. I don’t like the logistics of Piddington being a US territory, but they wouldn’t be the first. If the US could preserve their way of life where the UK can’t or won’t, it would make an extraordinary statement on the global political stage. And we all know Drumpf likes to make dramatic statements! Ell oh ell! My main concern, and theirs should be too, would be that Drumpf would insist on renaming the town/territory “Trumpton” and a statue of himself would be prominently featured at every roadside into town. I guess… if it keeps the leftist riffraff out, but that is a deep sacrifice in my opinion. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
This crisis in Europe is an invasion for economic reasons, religious reasons and political reasons. These are clearly not true refugees. This is about money and power. And it brings murder and rape for women and girls.
The town is only 358 people yet they are bringing in 1,256 single adult males. Some plans have said 3,510.
The town of Piddington will be swamped with foreign single males who are Muslim. Women in this town are scared and I can see why as some will be raped and some will be murdered. That seems a given. This small town has no shops or much else it is being targeted because it is an affluent area and the government has deemed it necessary for them to also endure this murder/rape crisis. The “affluent areas must do more” line became the government’s public justification once residents protested

This is a true existential crisis for Europe and their leaders are complicit. Political parties that are against this are swelling and are racking up wins like in Germany with the AfD. France, Spain and even Sweden are seeing an anti-immigrant backlash. The rest of European Left wing leaders led by France now want the UK to take even more of these invaders. Insanity that will be paid for in the blood of women and children.
Oh, yeah they should join the US. We will given them not only shops but a Super Walmart. We will station a company of Marines, all women, to guard them there. We will turn Piddington into the new West Berlin with chocolate drops and all.
I have no idea how that would even work. Who gets the tax money. What kind of government would they have. That would be like California seceding from the US. Heads would roll, and Gavin Newsome would be king.
Has Piddington considered becoming part of Australia instead?
We're way better with illegals. The standard service level is an illegal is transshipped to Nauru (oops Naoero since June 26) within 24 hours.
So if Piddington goes with Australia it'll happen as quick as Jack Flash. They'll be 14,199 kilometres away from 'em (20,037 km is the maximum possible distance between two people on earth), so I think we have something to offer Piddington.
Plus Piddington will still get to be reigned over by Charles III. It doesn't get better than that. :)

These are the kinds of governments we have. The kind who do not put the interests, safety, or the will of the British people first. They are traitors and the social contract is null and void.

As pleased as I am by their desire to join the US ultimately secession is only a right for the disenfranchised. If the people of Piddington can vote and have the same social and political rights as other people in the UK than the social contract says they can't secede. Thus Scotland and Ulster cannot leave the UK, they must work within the UK system.
I think it should pack its bags and get up and leave... find itself another country to be a part of. If you see a town walking down the road, one day, you'll know why!
Independent 52%, Tory 19%, reform 18%, Labour, 5% lib dem 5% according to last election. So about 27% right, 5% left, 5% in the middle and 52% who don't like anyone.
@purplepoppy They would have to go to a red (Conservative) state, no blue (Liberal) state would touch them, and it would reduce the number of Conservatives in the red state, which they wouldn't like. Piddington might be better off joining Canada, which has a lot of people who don't like anyone, especially one of the western provinces; and they'd still have the same Head of State. 😐

The issue is not that they "don't want migrants living in the nearby old military units". The fact is, imigrants are destroying the UK. The people of Piddington are simply making a statement that immigration policy needs to change.
